Queer As Folk At Wolfe Video

Pandora's Box: This classic silent German film tells of Lulu, a sensual chorus girl whose uncontainable sexual power literally destroys every man with whom she has an affair, until she encounters one of history's most notorious killers - Jack the Ripper. Considered particularly shocking at the time of its release because of the suggestion of a lesbian attraction between Lulu and a Countess. Brooks is at her sultry finest.

Poison: Part horror film, part drama, part expose, Poison is 1991's most controversial film, winner of the grand prize at the prestigious Sundance film festival. A stylistically compelling epic, the plot brilliantly weaves together a disturbing sensuality with an offbeat moral conscience. The disparate pieces fit like one outrageous jigsaw puzzle; it examines the motives behind a seven year-old boy's murder of his own father, relates the intriguing story of scientist who isolates the sex drive in liquid form, and graphically explores the sexually obsessive relationship between two prison inmates. As the pieces snap into place the tension intensifies, culminating in an explosive climax of unsettled emotions.

Postcards From America: Based on the writings of artist David Wojnarowicz, Postcards From America weaves together three semi-fictional stories from the life of a young gay man named David, during three different times in his life.
In his early years, a violent suburban childhood is spent with an abusive father in New Jersey in the early 1960's. It leads to his years as a teenage hustler on the streets of New York, and eventually to his adult fascination with anonymous sex, the American desert and the open road.

Prick Up Your Ears: This film is the story of the spectacular life and violent death of British playwright Joe Orton (Gary Oldman...who is bloody brilliant in this!). In his teens, Orton is befriended by the older, more reserved Kenneth Halliwell (Alfred Molina - Chocolat), and while the two begin a relationship, it's fairly obvious that it's not all about sex. Orton loves the dangers of bath-houses and liaisons in public restrooms; Halliwell, not as charming or attractive as Orton, doesn't fare so well in those environments. While both long to become writers, it is Orton who achieves fame - his plays Loot and What The Butler Saw become huge hits in London in the sixties, and he's even commissioned to write a screenplay for the Beatles. But Orton's success takes him farther from Halliwell, whose response ended both his life and the life of the up-and-coming playwright.

Priest: The deeply held religious convictions of an idealistic young priest are challenged when he must face extraordinary events within his own congregation. Soon he is forced to make the impossible choice between keeping the faith and exposing the truth.
This is an accurate account of the dilemmas that modern-day priests face in the ultra-conservative Catholic Church. Banned in many cities, this provocative release treats with tenderness and compassion the men of the cloth we often wonder about.
