Beast Wars Review

Synopsis: Long after the Cybertron Wars, Megatron and a small band of Predicons steal the Golden Disk. They are pursued through time by Optimus Primal and his crew of Maximals and both crash on a primitive world. Once there they assume the form of the local creatures to protect themselves from the unusually high amounts of energon, transforming into robots to do battle. Of course it turns out they are on eart and really it comes down to good guy vs. bad guy with time twists, sci-fi robot battle action and somewhere in there evil aliens show up as well. Earth was a very busy place before we puny humans came along. The main difference between this show and the original Transformers is the upgrade from 2D cel animation to 3D Computer animation.

Beast Wars: Transformers DVD contains the following episodes:

Beast Wars Part 1
Original Airdate: September 16, 1996
The Predacons and Maximals are fighting through space and crash on an unknown planet. The planet is rich in Energon and powerful enough to fuel galactic conquest. And so the battle for the planet begins!

Beast Wars Part 2
Original Airdate: September 17, 1996
The battle between the Maximals and the Predacons continues. Culminating the discovery and fight over a giant Engergon crystal atop a mountain.

The Web
Original Airdate: September 18, 1996
Rhinox develops a long-range comlink and Cheetor gets into trouble with the Predacons. Cheetor is trapped in Tarantula's web, which will slowly but surely, drain him of all energy unless he finds a way to escape.

Equal Measures
Original Airdate: September 23, 1996
Cheetor tries to prove himself to Optimus Primal, but a fluke of Nature transports him onto the Predacon base - just as a Terrorsaur is transported into the Maximal base.

Chain Of Command
Original Airdate: September 24, 1996
Optimus vanishes mysteriously while investigating a strange probe. The Maximals must choose a new leader and Dinobot tries to bully his way to power.

Power Surge
Original Airdate: September 25, 1996
Terrorsaur finds a special Energon deposit that temporarily gives him super-charged abilities.

Beast Wars Classics Vol.1 Contains: All of the above plus one more epsiode entitled Fallen Comrades. Essentially it is the first seven episodes of the first season.

Beast Wars Classics Vol.2 Contains: Episodes 8 through 14. So far these episodes are only available through Videoflicks based out of Canada. The disks work on Region One players.

Beast Wars - Optimus Lives!: These epiodes from Season 2 so far are only available on VHS. It contains Coming of the Fuzors part 2 (oddly not part 1), Tangled Web, Maximal No More, and Other Visits parts 1 and 2.

Beast Wars: Beasties Escape: The second tape of the three VHS releases on this series from Season 2.

Beast Wars: Warning From Space: Also, only available on VHS as it stands. This is the third in a line of Beast War videos Season 2 available. Episodes on the tape include The Spark, The Trigger (Parts One and Two), Spider's Game and Possessions.
