I Am Sam Review

Directed By: Jessie Nelson.
Starring: Sean Penn, Michelle Pfeiffer, Dianne Wiest, Dakota Fanning and Laura Dern .

Synopsis: Sam Dawson (Sean Penn) is a mentally-challenged father raising his daughter Lucy (Dakota Fanning) with the help of an extraordinary group of friends. As Lucy turns seven and begins to intellectually surpass her father, their close bond is threatened when their situation comes to the attention of a social worker who wants Lucy placed in foster care. Faced with a seemingly unwinnable case, Sam vows to fight the legal system and forms an unlikely alliance with Rita Harrison (Michelle Pfeiffer), a high-powered, self-absorbed attorney who takes his case pro bona as a challenge from her colleagues. Together they struggle to convince the system that Sam deserves to get his daughter back and, in the process, fuse a bond that results in a unique testament to the power of unconditional love.

I amy not be able to tell you about the box-office of a film like this. It could be a hit or a huge miss even with this cast. What I am going to predict though is that the soundtrack (which is a compilation of Beatle's tunes sung by other artists) is going to be a HUGE hit! The track listing is below.

"Blackbird": Sarah McLachlan
"Two Of Us": Aimee Mann and Michael Penn
"I'm Looking Through You": The Wallflowers
"Across The Universe": Rufus Wainwright
"Strawberry Fields Forever": Ben Harper
"You've Got To Hide Your Love Away": Eddie Vedder
"Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds": The Black Crowes
"Golden Slumbers": Ben Folds
"Nowhere Man": Paul Westerberg
"Let It Be": Nick Cave
"Don't Let Me Down": The Stereophonics
"We Can Work It Out": Heather Nova
"I'm Only Sleeping": The Vines
