Say Anything Review
Directed By: Cameron Crowe.
Starring: John Cusack, Ione Skye, John Mahoney, Lili Taylor, Loren Dean. |
Synopsis: All-around nice guy Lloyd Dobler (John Cusack) wants nothing more than a date with Diane Court (Ione Skye), the beautiful valedictorian of his high school class. His friends think it will never happen--Diane is a brain, and Lloyd is, well, Lloyd. When Diane surprises everyone and accepts his invitation to a party on graduation night, the two embark on a roller-coaster relationship with results that neither one expected. Cameron Crowe's film approaches this teenage love story with honesty, intelligence, and a healthy dose of humor.
This movie is pure Cameron Crowe which is to say, it is pure 'moments' on film. Little touches, little glimpses, slick and unique lines...Cameron Crowe, as much as he is praised he is still one of the under-rated directors of the last ten years...and the man writes his own stuff as well...we need more of these guys around.
"I don't want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don't want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don't want to do that." - John Cusack as Lloyd Dobbler.

The DVD Review:
Some info that might be useful to you. Don't
know if you've checked out the Say Anything disc, but
holy crap is all I can say. As much as I've always
loved that movie, I love it even more now. Phenomenal
commentary by Crowe Cusack and Skye, and I haven't
even touched the deleted, extended and alternate
scenes yet. Many of which also have commentary
tracks. - Sent in by Paul French
