Famke Janssen: Click Here For Famke's Filmography

Most of you will at least know Famke Janssen from her Bond Girl role in Goldeneye. Her role as Xenia Onatopp (who gets to come up with these names!?!) the killer babe with thighs to match isn't exactly what Famke would like to be known for but it did help her jump into some better film projects.

Born November 5, 1965 in Amsterdam her name Famke translates to 'little girl' which is a bit of a misnomer due to her height reaching 5' 11". It wasn't acting that Famke originally pursued but modeling and by the early eighties Famke was already on her way, arriving in New York to work for Chanel and a host of other clients.

A model huh? Isn't that always the way? Yeah, a model with an economics major from the University of Amsterdam. While in New York working she also found time to enroll at Columbia University, this time majoring in writing and literature, while she studied acting under famed coach Harold Guskin. Broader horizons than the catwalk and magazine covers seemed possible and Famke left Columbia two years later to head for Los Angeles with the idea of breaking into the movies.

She found work initially in such shows as Star Trek - The Next Generation and Melros Place while hitting the big screen opposite Jeff Goldblum in 1992's Fathers and Sons. Other films followed like Relentless IV: Ashes to Ashes, Model by Day and Clive Barker's Lord of Illusions. As mentioned before though it would be 1995's Goldeneye, the return of Bond and Famke as a new Bond villain that would get her noticed.

She was afraid of becoming known as a Bond Girl for the rest of her career but this has obviously proven to be nonsense. Big screen success with films like Rounders (a secondary character but a really good one), The Faculty, the fun little B-Movie Deep Rising and of course X-Men with the sequel in production, her stint as a Bond Girl has not hampered her career in the least.

"I don't want to be exploited. That of course, as an actress, is a real challenge, not to be exploited. So I'm just going to keep looking for as many different types of roles as I can find in different genre movies. That's my goal, my aim. I like doing that. I've had a pretty varied career so far."

More recently she can be seen opposite Eddie Murphy and Owen Wilson in I-Spy, the thriller Don't Say A Word with Michael Douglas and in 2003 she will once again reprise her role as Dr. Jean Grey in the X-Men series.
