Ali Larter...actually Alison Gertrude Larter, if you need to send her some official document of one sort or another, was born February 28, 1976 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
| Originally slating herself in the role of model she had steady work until Esquire pulled a switcheroo that actually...and one should have guessed...worked phenomenally well. The idea was a parody of fluff journalism back in 1996. They threw her on the cover under the name of Allegra Coleman and called her the newest 'it' girl who was bigger than Gwyneth Paltrow. Well, not yet, but she's working at it. |

Since the magazine cover she was signed for her first film, an MTV production that gathered up James Van Der Beek and put her in a whip cream bikini...how could the teen crowd miss this one? They didn't...Varsity Blues, made for a scant $16 million pulled in $52 in the US alone. A star, and new form of sexual desert, was born.
A few one-shot TV appearances followed with Dawson's Creek (nice tie-in with James), Just Shoot Me, Suddenly Susan and Chicago Hope helped give her some more solid footing in the realm of acting before she returned to the big screen in another 'teen' movie Drive Me Crazy with Melissa Joan Hart.
She followed Drive Me Crazy with two horror films, the semi-successful House on Haunted Hill with Taye Diggs, Famke Janssen, and Chris Kattan and then Final Destination with Devon Sawa. In Final Destination Larter actually begins to stand out as an actress with a much more lengthy career ahead of her than one might have originally thought. Others must have thought so as well for it nailed her the Young Hollywood award for breakthrough performance by a female.
