This is the kind of career I like to see. Imagine struggling as an actress in films, getting small roles in films like Michael Mann's Manhunter, or Eddie Murphy's Coming To America while also hitting auditions for television and landing one shot appearances on shows like Miami Vice and The Cosby Show but still never getting that big break. It would be pretty frustrating, but keep going to the auditions, more roles and more shows.

Eventually you get a recurring role on a show like N.Y.P.D. Blue and star opposite Chris Rock in a summer blockbuster like Bad Company. Well, you don't, but Garcelle Beauvais who has more than put in her dues is finally getting some big screen attention with Bad Company.

Born November 26 1966 in St. Marc, Haiti to her mother Maria Claire and father Axel Beauvais. Her mother divorced Axel and took the family, seven kids in all to Massachusetts. When Garcelle reached 16 the family was on the move again...to Miami. But Garcelle would spend only a year there as she hit New York at 17 to pursue a modeling career.

Her timing was perfect as Aaron Spelling was putting together a new T.V. show and she landed a role on it, the show was the short lived Models, Inc.. From there Garcelle began hitting the audition circuit and focusing on an acting career. She took flight once more and began looking for work in L.A.. She also joined the infamous L.A. comedy troupe, The Groundlings.

2001 proved to be a busy year for Garcelle as she starred in Double Take opposite Eddie Griffin, landed a recurring role on N.Y.P.D. Blue and married agent Mike Nilon. And for the record for those who simply must know, yes she was married before, to producer Daniel Saunders for 6-1/2 years with whom she had a son, Oliver.

More recently she has starred in Bad Company and is still appearing on N.Y.P.D. Blue and was voted one of 'The 10 Sexiest Women' by the readers of Black Men Magazine.
