Born January 2, 1983 in Los Angeles, California, Kate Bosworth is a fast up and comer in Hollywood and expected to bring in a hit the size of Coyote Ugly with her teaming up with Michelle Rodriguez in Blue Crush. The pairing of this duo is interesting as both have ended up in films almost through no fault of their own.
While growing up Kate became a champion equestrian and happened to hear of a casting call for a film about horses. Kate went to the audition, if only to say she tried. She wound up with a role in Robert Redford's The Horse Whisperer. At this point her acting experience had been made up of singing at county fairs and performing in a community theatre production of Annie.
After the movie she took some time to figure out if being a film actress was what she really wanted to do. After apparently deciding yes, she resurfaced 2 years later in Remember The Titans and in the TV series Young Americans.
Now having graduated high school Bosworth seems to have an eye on being a full time actress and after Blue Crush went into her next film, The Rules of Attraction which is shaping up to be a who's who of young Hollywood with James Van Der Beek, Jessica Biel, Shannyn Sossamon, Thomas Ian Nicholas, with Eric Stoltz and Fred Savage as well based on a Bret Easton Ellis novel (American Psycho).
In March of 2003 Vanity Fair named five Ingenues to watch. Who was on the list? Sophia Myles, Kerry Washington, Kate Bosworth, Joy Bryant, Zooey Deschannel, and Alison Lohman.
