Rebecca Romijn-Stamos: Click Here For Rebecca's Biography

Rebecca Romijn-Stamos: Click Here For Rebecca's Filmography

The more I see of Rebecca Romijn Stamos in interviews, the less I dislike this model turned actress and actually become convinced she is the goofy, down to earth lady that she purports to be.

Born November 6, 1972 in Berkeley, California she grew up thinking she was just another California blonde…who knew she could use that old stereotype to parlay it into a modeling career? Rebecca Romijn’s (pronounced like the lettuce – Romaine) parents are a mix, her father being Dutch and her mother being American. Her father worked as a custom furniture maker while her mother spent time as an English teacher.

She attended Berkeley High School where her 5’11 frame earned her the nickname the "Jolly Blonde Giant." After high school she headed to Santa Cruz to study at the University of California where she majored in Music. She never finished her studies though as she became restless and wanted to see the world. On the advice of a friend (and her friend’s connections) Rebecca walked into an agency and soon found herself with a contract and in Paris doing the cover of Elle in France. More work followed with such prestigious names as Sports Illustrated, Christian Dior and Victoria's Secret

Now for the Stamos part. As most men know, Rebecca married John Stamos but here is a little of the background detail that you may not have at your fingertips. She first met John in 1994 at a Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Hmmmm dating a model, is that wise? How best to test her? How about this, he takes her to Disneyland for their first date. It would be another four years of dating and being engaged before they would marry in September of ’98.

That was the same year that Rebecca began appearing in movies, as well as hosting the House of Style from 1998 to 2000. Her movie roles were never really anything to write home about. Little more than cameos really…her first one was as a bearded lady in Dirty Work, and she followed that up with a cameo in Austin Powers – The Spy Who Shagged Me (although a sizeable portion of this was cut down and left on the deleted scenes in the DVD).

It really wasn’t until 2000 that Rebecca landed a major role as Mystique, the lithe but blue shape shifter that the X-Men must battle. Since this big leap forward Rebecca has been hitting the big screen pretty heavy. She had the weak Rollerball (though she came out unscathed the same might not be said of Chris Klein) followed with the much more interesting Femme Fatale with Rebecca in a very dark and nasty role also exhibiting more of the sexual side that she seems to revel in. She also had a role in the Al Pacino movie (Sim0ne) earlier this year.

And in 2003 she has two more films - a return to her role of Mystique/Raven Darkholme in X-Men 2 and Godsend with Robert De Niro and Greg Kinnear. I don’t know who says looks don’t matter because they definitely gave this lady a leg up in her career and she is using that gift as much as she can. If I were her, I know I would be.
