For most of you it would be fair to admit you do not know who Linda Cardellini is, but if the expectations of Scooby-Doo are on the mark, you soon will. Linda was cast as Velma Dinkley in the family film which appears to be a tongue-in-cheek version of the animated series, much like The Brady Bunch Movie pulled off so well.
Cardellini made her TV debut through unconventional means, when she won a fireplace on The Price is Right. But that's just trivia folks, the real thing is, does the lady have talent and anyone who caught the (sadly) short lived series Freaks and Geeks will know that the girl indeed has talent to spare. (And for any of those in charge in releasing DVD's onto the market...perhaps a Freaks And Geeks Box Set might be in order? Hmmmm?)
Born June 25, 1975 in Redwood California Cardellini found the acting bug at an early age. At the age of 10 she was asked to sing in a school play and found herself the smitten kitten of the stage. Shortly after, Cardellini spent her spare time attending acting classes and appearing in local productions while still enrolled at St. Francis High School.
When she hit 21 she was cast in an ongoing role for the TV series Bonechillers...a sort of pre-teen Tales of the Crypt kind of show. The following year she hit the big screen for the first time in Nickelodeon's Good Burger, followed that up with Dead Man on Campus and went even further to the dark side with Dee Snider's (of Twisted Sister fame) Strangeland.
It was her casting in Good Burger where she met Jason Segel whom she would be cast opposite in Freaks and Geeks...and in March of 2001 began dating seriously. Admittedly, Freaks and Geeks never hit the numbers needed to stay on the air, the show was a huge fave amongst the loyal fans and the critics...which was just the kind of calling card Linda needed to take the next big step. One that has been working out well for her so far...she landed a role in the box-office smash Legally Blonde with Reese Witherspoon (she was the step-daughter of Ali Larter). and now has the summer family flick, the aforementioned Scooby-Doo which is sure to break $100 million easily.
Linda Cardellini may seem to be just another of the young new crop of Hollywood kids out there...but check her work out and you will see there is a lot of talent there just waiting to be harnessed properly.
