Born December 7, 1978 in Los Angeles, California and grew up in the San Fernando Valley area of L.A with her mother, father and younger brother Evan. Her parents are both of Jewish descent and her name Shiri means "song of mine" in Hebrew. |
When she was in high school (the Calabasa High School in Calabasa for those who require such details) she was also working as a hostess at a gourmet restaurant and was on the Calabasa Coyotes cheerleader squad.
After graduation she headed off to the University of Southern California where she began studying English literature along with her courses in Theatre Arts.
It all sounds so normal, just a typical kid growing up in L.A. save for one thing. By the time she was at USC she had already appeared in several TV movies and feature films including I Love You To Death with Kevin Kline. It was during her high school years she took a breather and avoided the film world but in 1999 she slowly began appearing in films once more, making a small appearance as the 'free sample girl' in The Other Sister and a slightly larger role in the underrated The Thirteenth Floor as Bridget Manilla. A third film, a little less well known called Deal of A Lifetime gave her the biggest role a feature film that she had had to date.
Three films in the same year after being away for several years is a nice way to ease back into the Hollywood community one could say. Add to the mix her Shiri's landing of the role Liz Parker on the TV series Roswell and you can tell something is up. The casting agents are obviously seeing something they like.
As the series continued into 2000 she began taking on roles in feature films while she was on hiatus from the TV show. She shot the film A Time For Dancing with Peter Coyote and Amy Madigan in 2000 and more recently has the teen obsession flick Swimfan ready to bring her an even wider audience than the devoted (if not slightly obsessive fans themselves) of Roswell.
