The Eyes of Tammy Faye

| Compare Prices | Review |

Synopsis: Even if you never watched the PTL (Praise the Lord) Club, chances are you still recognize the famous makeup job of Tammy Faye, former wife of televangelist Jim Bakker. In this entertaining documentary, openly gay directors Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey coax Tammy Faye into telling the story of the Bakker's spectacular rise and candalous fall from grace, including how they were betrayed (perhaps even framed) by Jerry Falwell.

Why are a couple of gay men interested in this topic? No doubt they were intrigued by the Bakker's sympathetic treatment of gays with AIDS on their TV show, and by Tammy Faye's choice to team up with a gay co-host when she later attempted a comeback. Besides, Tammy Faye is unintentionally campy. The movie includes photographs, TV clips, and interviews (including Pat Boone) – with narration by Ru Paul.
